It was founded in 2011 by artists Annelise Ragno, Fiona Lindron, Sylvain Marchand, Thomas Fontaine and myself.

Natural dyes / Teintures naturelles / Plantefarging

We are testing some natural dyes at the moment in the hope of integrating it into our production.

Nous essayons des teintures naturelles dans l'espérance de pouvoir nous en servir pour nos produits.

Vi prøver ut plantefarger om dagen for å se om vi kan bruke dette i produksjonen vår.

L-L-B for UNICEF

It must seem like little is going on at the L-L-B Studio judging from the date of the last post. Not to worry, there is a lot going on. For instance, I was asked to design fabric dolls for the local UNICEF commitee, UNICEF Côte d'Or.
UNICEF France has a tradition of inviting the public, schools and fashion designers to create "Frimousses" as a voluntary contribution to raise funds for its cause. For each doll sold, at least  one child in Darfur gets vaccinated.

And so I made this litt couple, Lutetita and Eudes, from left-over fabric from the SHELTERED S/S collection.

Ecoluxe London Feb '13

L-L-B participated for the first time in a fashion trade show, Ecoluxe London, getting great response and having an awesome time.
Here are a few photos from the stand:

The Ecoluxe pop-up shop featured a few L-L-B items, amongst others, these LP Purses, a collaboration with Scarlet Matias who makes these fun bags, this time out of L-L-B fabrics.

Se what Veronica Crespi from REWARDROBE, The Ethical Fashion Forum thought about the event and watch TwynkleLoves' video below:

I'm working with some very talented graphic designers

After settling in Dijon, I've met lots of talented people, among there Cécilia Philippe and Charline Cabaret that together form Wonderpress. They are graphical designers specialized in hand printing with lino and a manual printing press.
They made this lovely invitation for the SHELTERED S/S colelciton presentation. If ytheir work intrigues you, then check out their blog:

A nice encounter with the press

I met with Mélaine Launay a week after the SHELTERED S/S presentation. She wanted to write about the show for an online magazine called Sparse. They're a sort of modern guide to Dijon though they also write about international events.
We had a nice chat and it resulted in a lovely article. For those of you who read French, I recommend it, if it's just to enjoy her litterary approach and style.

Photo and video shoot part 2

Once again we were lucky with the weather, it's been a nice summer day (well, at least Norwegian summer) in October. Here's a few shots from the making.

Photo and video shoot part 1

Between days of pouring rain, we were lucky to get just the perfect weather for a shoot.
It was such a busy day that I only had the time to take couple of behind the scenes, but I'll share this one with you.

Making of silk screens

I've been preparing some new screens to make some silk screen printed fabrics for the next collections. I want the screes to be re-usable as long as possible, som it's a long process.

First I've cut the wooden frames from an abandonded art piece, glued and nailed the together.

Then the synthetic "silk" is stapled on.

Then the fabric  is protected with some scotch before the frames are varnished so that they become water repellant.

And so for a layer of duct tape to make them even more water proof and resistant.

And now I have four new frames to work with!

Working with some new dyes and techniques

This summer I have been working with some new dyes, both natural plant dyes and some certified organic sythetic dyes. Unique colours make the garments even more unique and some of these tests have been to make a custom order even more custom and some will the new collection.

Testing the colours in a big cauldron, like a sorcerer making her brew.

Helt Sort

After today's meeting with the owner of Helt Sort, Stine Oldertrøen, you can now find some L-L-B designs in her shop and more are to come.

You can find Helt Sort at Grünerløkka, in Oslo. It is a shop filled with black clothing and accesories (the Norwegian name translates as "completely black") that are strictly fair trade, ecological and/our redesign. Any piece that doesn't satisfy at least one of the criterias above doesn't get in to Stine's shop. She also has strong convictions on animal welfare, from the welfare of the silk worn to the sheep producing the wool to keep you warm.
